AJ Hello and welcome to Gen X vs Gen Z. This is AJ for Team Gen X and
Byron Byron for Gen Z.
AJ And today we are talking about healthy escapism. So first off, Byron what do you think of when we say escapism?
Byron Like just letting go of thoughts. Just know if you're sad and just like do something that makes you happy.
AJ Ya, pretty much just kind of checking out when things get overwhelming, and I need a break. Now, there are positive and negative ways of doing this. And of course, we know lots of negative ways of escaping. Today's challenge will be seeing whether or not Gen X ways of escaping are the same as GenZ, or do they differ in any way? So top three ways GenX ways of escaping, starting with number three. I would say it is getting out into nature. So especially in Victoria people like hiking and biking. I personally do not. I am more of a sit on a beach and stare at the mountains type of person. And what do you think? What do you say?
Byron For number three? I don't really have a number three. I, I'd say just like social media, but that's more of like a distraction. You know, like a funny video you go, "Haha," but your problems are still there.
AJ Yeah, that's, I wouldn't really classify that as a healthy escapism. It's not.
Byron Ya, but I only have two.
AJ Okay, then let's move on to my number two, which is socializing. So, my socializing looks like a lot of sitting around and having coffee or because I can, have alcohol. You cannot do that; you are only 15.
Byron Word
AJ Yeah, either indoors or outdoors just anywhere I can gather with friends. I have my regular weekly darts even though I totally suck at darts. We really need to get that dartboard back up. How about you? Does socializing fit anywhere into your healthy escapism?
Byron Yeah. Actually, I'd say like soccer and stuff would be three but for two it's like just talking to somebody about your problems. But for me, they actually really have to know how to talk about it. I can't just say everything's gonna be all right. Because I have to be convinced that everything is all right.
AJ So do you find that GenX can actually have good conversations?
Byron Uh huh
AJ And my last one is music.
Byron My last one is going out into nature.
AJ Oh, okay. Yeah, I would rather sit in my room and listen to music or listen to music with friends. All right, thank you for joining us for Gen X vs. GenZ on escapism.
